I haven't had time to take my own pictures of where I live, but I have found some ones on the Internet that will just have to do...for now. :)
Tree's and side walk line the whole lake. And there are people on running or walking around it ALL the time.
Here is a map of the districts close to where I live. Ballard, I have heard, has a lot of great restaurants and pubs. It's about a 5 minute drive from where I live. I will be making my way over there soo, hopefully.
The University of Washington is consider the U District. It's obviously filled with college students and a whole street of restaurants, bars, pubs, and boutiques.
Queen Anne is a very popular place to live. It's right by Downtown so it has a lot of amenities within walking distance. And they have gorgeous views of the city and the water front.
Capitol Hill was my second choice of places to live. It's very active, but more in a nightlife type of setting. It has a lot more places to eat and places to shop right on the Boulevard than we get here in Greenlake. The reason I chose Greenlake over Capitol Hill was mainly because of the parking and I felt like I fit in with the people in Greenlake a bit more. Capital Hill is only a 5 minute drive as well, so if I feel like being crazy I can head there on the weekend.
Downtown isn't as big as I thought it would be, but it's amazing nonetheless. I drove down 1st Avenue the other day trying to find the Ferries and could feel how alive it was. It's like a much smaller, cleaner kind of Manhattan. There aren't nearly as many people filling the sidewalks and streets as there are in downtown Manhattan, but that's kind of the charm I like about it. The culture here is so open. It has such a free feeling about it. You feel that you can walk the streets without anyone judging your very existance. A man or woman can walk down the street holding the hand of their partner, same sex or not, without getting a second look. It's nice to have exceptance for whoever you want to be. You can have complete individuality here and not feel like you have to hide....you. Now if I could just make some friends I can actually leave my apartment once in a while and enjoy all the wonderful things this city has to offer! :)
Homesick, exhausted, but toughing it out.....
Remarkable me

I love the way you say the culture is there. It really sounds like it would give you a fresh start and a clean slate (if that makes sense). I really need to make it down someday.
